There is a beautiful village in Slovakia called Smolenice. Smolenice has a beautiful castle, which is very well known. No wonder, as one of the very few is in really good condition. In this castle lived several important and noble families. One of them the Palffy family transformed this castle in the early twenties to the form as it is now. Palffy family never grown vineyards, but they surely enjoyed wine very much. The whole region around Smolenice is winery. In 2010 a married couple decided, they will open a wine shop / bar in this location. These two people were raised with their families to know, that wine is to be appreciate and it could not be missing on any family party. Over the years they have learned which wine is a quality wine and many more about the wines from all over the world. Once, when Peter and Kamila Križan visited a little wine shop in Skalica, they have felt so comfortable and relaxed in there, they have decided that they will also open one wine bar in Smolenice. Peter and Kamila were lucky, as they started their own business very successfully and now they do what they really love.
If you determine to visit their wine cellar, you will not regret. This wine cellar could not be better located. The beautiful surroundings just make the whole experience and visit just perfect. In addition to wine in the wine cellar, visitors can enjoy several original works of art. This small gallery was not first planned idea. When thinking of decoration in the wine cellar, Kamila thought that this would be perfect place for their daughter’s paintings. It seemed to be great idea and when people and visitors started to be very interested in those paintings, later Kamila’s daughter’s friends started to contribute with their art works. This place has a really good and friendly feel and I definitely recommend it as my top five places to visit in Slovakia.
